The 2G Energy AG , based in Heek is a provider of cogeneration plants for decentralized energy supply using cogeneration .

history

Emerging from 2G Energietechnik GmbH, which was founded in 1995, the company from Westmünsterland had been listed as a stock corporation in the Entry Standard of the German stock exchange since 2007. While at the time of the IPO with the original name "2G Bio-Energietechnik AG" the focus was still on the role of a manufacturer of biogas- operated combined heat and power plants, from 2008 the strategic orientation increasingly changed towards natural gas-powered combined heat and power Coupling systems and a continuously operated internationalization of the business. In 2009, the company acquired a stake in a US service and sales company for combined heat and power systems, 2G Cenergy Ltd., based in St. Augustine, Florida. In 2012, the subsidiary 2G Manufacturing Ltd. was founded at the same location. for the production and final assembly of CHP systems for the American market. In order to meet the increasing international demands of the company and to focus on the growing natural gas division, the company changed its name to 2G Energy AG in the summer of 2013. In the 2013 financial year, 2G generated 22% of its sales abroad (2012: 33%). Broken down across the divisions, 72% (77%) of sales came from CHP systems, 22% (16%) from the service business and 7% (7%) from the after-sales area. The customer structure is diverse, ranging from farmers, municipalities, the housing industry, medium-sized commercial and industrial customers to public utilities and large suppliers. No customer represents more than 5% of sales. As of December 31, 2013, 2G had 518 employees in the group. The name "2G" stands for the two company founders Ludger Gausling and Christian Grotholt. Since its listing, 2G has increased its number of employees more than tenfold in nine years.
