331st Infantry Division (Wehrmacht)

The 331st Infantry Division was a German infantry division during World War II . The division was set up on December 18, 1941 at the Königsbrück military training area. It was used exclusively on the Eastern Front in the Soviet Union . The unit suffered such heavy losses in March 1944 that it was disbanded. The remnants of the division were transported to the Wahn military training area near Cologne , where they were used together with the Wahn Shadow Division to set up the 331st Volksgrenadier Division with the same number.
