38 Bootis is a star in the Bear Keeper constellation . It has an apparent magnitude of 5.7 and belongs to the spectral class F6 IVs. The distance of the barely visible star is about 160  light years .

The star bears the historical proper name Merga (from Arabic المرأة المسلسلة, DMG al-marʾa al-musalsala ; also "Falx Italica" or "Marrha").
