3Lux is a three-part graphic and music video production and was the first attempt by young graphic designers around Rainer Remake at the beginning of the 1990s to add moving images to the still young and innovative techno music. The project is considered a milestone in both techno history and computer art . The releases appeared on the Berlin label Studio K7 and are the predecessors of the X-Mix series.

With the rise of techno and house and its increasing presence in the media, the demand for clips that could be used to sell the music arose in the music video market . The series was based on the idea of visually connecting the music created by computers using computer animations and new digital technologies with images and animations, thereby reflecting the spirit of optimism and the attitude towards life of the young scene. 3Lux did not visualize individual tracks, but entire mixes of the then popular artists such as Visions of Shiva , Aphex Twin , Cosmic Baby and Dave Angel from the areas of ambient , trance , house and acid techno . This created virtual landscapes, colorful collages, psychedelic dream images and geometric figures that pulsed to the rhythm of the music.

The Finnish groups Jumalauta and nrgnation created a tribute on the occasion of the 3Lux series for Mac OS X from 2005, called 3LUX 2006 Preview .
