The cartridge 5.45 × 18 mm ( GRAY index 7N7, Russian 7Н7 ) is a Soviet pistol cartridge. It serves as ammunition for the PSM pocket pistol and was developed by Antonina Dmitrijewna Denissowa.
description
The cartridge has a brass bottle neck and a pointed arch-shaped full jacket bullet with a flattened tip. At around 125 J, the bullet energy is significantly higher than that of the 6.35 mm Browning (86 J) caliber .
species
The standard ammunition is the steel core 7N7, which is able to overcome bullet resistant vests. There are also lead bullets (PSO) and blank cartridges (7N8).
commitment
The cartridge was developed for the PSM pistol, which is used as a self-defense weapon for high-ranking civilians and military officers of the Soviet Union and Russia . From 1983 the PSM was also run by officers of the East German People's Police .
Other weapons that use this ammunition are the OZ-26 "Malysch" and OZ-23 "Drotik".
