99 is a rock song by the band Toto from 1979.
history
The song was written by David Paich and recorded in 1978/79 at Sunset Sound and Reggie Fisher Recording Studios in Los Angeles for the second Toto album Hydra , produced and released by CBS in October 1979. While the first and third single from the album flopped, 99 reached number 26 on the Billboard Hot 100 . The song was inspired by George Lucas ' film THX 1138 .
