9 to 5 - Why don't we kill our boss? is a musical by Dolly Parton from the year 2009 , which on the film Why ... we do not bring the boss? (in the original: 9 to 5) from 1980.
Performances
The premiere of 9 to 5 took place on Broadway in 2009. A year before that, so-called tryouts were played in Los Angeles. These were used to determine the response from the audience. After that the musical was partly changed.
In 2016 it was first performed in German in the tent palace in Merzig .

Act 1
Violet is a single mother and the office manager at Consolidated . She is supposed to train Judy, who gets a job as a secretary with a fake résumé. There is also the married, blonde southern beauty Doralee, who is also a secretary. She is constantly harassed by her boss Franklin Hart Jr. He even spreads a rumor in the company that they had a relationship with each other. Because of this, Doralee is avoided by her work colleagues. There is also Joe, who has his eye on Violet. She also feels something for him, but cannot open up to him. Also, there's Roz, who is in love with Hart Jr. and is his administrator. She is considered scheming and devious. She tries everything to get Hart's attention. During the first act, Judy, Doralee and Violet become friends. While they smoke pot together, they make plans to get Hart out of the way and capture him according to their fantasies.
Act 2
Hart continues to be held captive by Judy, Doralee, and Violet. Under Violet's leadership with relaxed rules, the company becomes even more lucrative and generates better business figures. She admits her love for Joe and ultimately becomes the managing director of Consolidatet . Judy finally separates from Dick and becomes a writer and Doralee becomes a singer. After escaping from the clutches of women, Hart is transferred by his boss in an attempt to accuse Judy, Doralee and Violet of kidnapping.
