Aéroport international de Kayes Dag Dag is an international airport in the Republic of Mali, northeast of the city of Kayes .

history

The airport was built to replace the unpaved airfield Kayes 14 ° 25 ′ 52.4 ″  N , 11 ° 26 ′ 23.1 ″  W , located south of the city . The new runway with a length of around 2700 meters, as well as the taxiways and the 11,000 m 2 apron were paved and a tower and a terminal with a covered area of around 2000 m 2 were built. Construction work began in June 2009 and should be finished by the end of May 2010. However, due to the extension of the runway from 1600 to 2700 meters, completion could not take place until mid-2011.

On September 18, 2011, the airport was inaugurated by the President of the Republic Amadou Toumani Touré and the former airfield, which could only be approached with small planes, was closed. A kerosene tank farm is still under construction.

The regular line between Paris and Kayes, operated by Aigle Azur (1970) since November 2011, is no longer offered. Air Mali served domestic flights to the airport until December 24, 2012 . Air Mali has ceased operations until further notice.
