Aérospatiale was a manufacturer of civil and military aircraft , missiles and helicopters .

history

The French aviation and armaments group Société Nationale Industrielle Aérospatiale (SNIAS) was formed in 1970 from the merger of the then nationalized companies Sud Aviation , Nord Aviation and SÉREB . In 1984 the name changed to Aérospatiale.

In 1998, Aérospatiale merged with Matra Haute Technologie (a subsidiary of the French Matra group) to form Aérospatiale-Matra. On July 10, 2000, Aérospatiale-Matra finally merged with the German DASA and the Spanish CASA to form the European Aeronautic Defense and Space Company (EADS).
