Aïcha Koné (born May 21, 1957 in Abidjan ) is an Ivorian singer . The lyrics of their songs are written in Bambara or Manding .

Life

Aïcha Koné grew up in Gbon in the Boundiali department in the north of the country. As the daughter of a doctor, she got off to a difficult start as her father, Moussa Y. Koné, refused to let his daughter pursue a musical career.

Koné began her musical career in the Ivory Coast at l'Orchestre de la Radio Télévision Ivoirienne (ORTI), where she was hired as a choir director under the direction of Boncana Maïga . He introduced them to Georges Benson , the then program director of Radio Télévision Ivoirienne (RTI), who introduced them to the broad Ivorian audience and who would become their mentor and even their regular arranger up to the album Farafina Miria . Koné met with other great masters of African music such as Manu Dibango , with whom she later worked. Aicha Koné says of her years at ORTI that they helped her "to organize and structure herself". She was influenced very early by the South African Miriam Makeba , whom she met in Guinean exile, and challenged by the mandolins of Nana Mouskouri and the guitars of Enrico Macias with oriental accents that reminded her of Mandingo music, she released her first single in 1979 Denikeleni .

Aïcha Koné has made a name for herself in the African music scene. She has established herself in the African music scene and performs all over the world. She is the only Ivorian singer to have won two gold records and more than 45 awards and trophies.
