Año Nuevo Island ( Spanish : Año Nuevo = New Year, New Year's Island ) is a four- hectare rocky island 680 meters off the California coast at Point Año Nuevo . Año Nuevo Bay extends east of it .
The island is located in the extreme south of San Mateo County , a good 60 kilometers south of San Francisco .
