ACT is a Swedish progressive rock band from Malmö that was founded in 1994 under the name Fairyland .

history

The band was founded in 1994 under the name Fairyland by guitarist Ola Andersson, drummer Tomas Erlandsson and singer Jens Appelgren. A short time later, keyboardist Jerry Sahlin was added. The band began rehearsing without a bass player until Simon Niklasson joined the band as bass player and the first performance followed. In 1995 Appelgren left the band and was replaced by Herman Saming. A short time later, Peter Asp joined the band as the new bass player. The group then changed its name to ACT. Then they took part in the music competition Musik Direkt and reached the final there. Two songs that were recorded during the competition were later included on a compilation . Another demo was recorded in Svedala towards the end of the year , but was never released. In 1996, the band recorded another demo and released 200 copies of this sound carrier. Then the band took part in the Musik Direkt again and won the competition, which allowed the band to attract additional attention. This was followed by various appearances, with the group also appearing as the opening act for Yngwie Malmsteen . In 1999 the band released their debut album Today's Report on MTM Music . After the album Imaginary Friends was released on the same label in 2001 , the band appeared on ProgPower Europe in 2002 . In 2003, the next album, Last Epic, followed on Atenzia Records , followed by Silence in 2006, released through InsideOut Music .

style

The band plays melodic progressive rock, with occasional elements from metal being audible.
