NBC defense troops of the Swiss Army
The NBC defense troops of the Swiss army to protect the civilian population of Switzerland against nuclear , biological and chemical attacks. The VBS deployment team (EEVBS), consisting of professional staff from the Spiez laboratory and the ABC-KAMIR competence center, can support the local blue light organizations and authorities in dealing with an NBC incident within an hour of being alerted . The militia NBC defense troops can move into Spiez within 12 hours and be available.
structure
The NBC defense forces are affiliated with the Genie / Rescue / ABC teaching association and consist of various associations and follow the principle of graduated readiness:
- ABC-KAMIR competence center
The ABC-KAMIR competence center (nuclear, biological, chemical, ordnance disposal and mine clearance ) is stationed in Spiez and heads the NBC defense and the KAMIR command.
- Command KAMIR
The command operates the National Dud Reporting Center (BMZ) in Switzerland and is ready for military ordnance disposal operations (e.g. mine clearance ).
- NBC Defense School 77
They are responsible for the basic training of all soldiers and cadres of the NBC defense forces. The command trains the ABC reconnaissance soldiers , the ABC detection soldiers SIBCRA , the nuclear, biological and chemical laboratory specialists and the ABC decontamination soldiers .
In addition to the recruiting schools, the NBC Defense Forces course is also available for the technical training of all cadres in the NBC defense forces, all NBC specialists in the Swiss Army, all NBC trainers for the various branches of the armed forces, all NBC specialists from the Swiss Security Association and foreign participants international agreement.
- NBC Defense Battalion 10
The military provide services in the areas of ABC reconnaissance and containment and mobile ABC detection. In addition, samples can be taken and analyzed on site using the mobile ABC verification. Another task of this association is the decontamination of people, patients, material and vehicles.
The ABC reconnaissance aircraft use the Mowag Piranha ABC reconnaissance armored personnel carrier, which can be operated autonomously by a four-man crew for up to 24 hours.
- NBC defense laboratory 1
The core competence is forensic evidence, i.e. the definitive verification and quantification of an ABC release. In addition, the following services can be provided: Use as a reference laboratory, long-term forecast and spread calculation, ensuring sustainability, e.g. B. in the area of conference protection, advice to troops and civil authorities.
- NBC defense operations company
With the competencies of ABC sampling, A-reconnaissance ( radiometric measurements on the ground and in the air), ABC personal decontamination, ABC patient decontamination, the NBC defense emergency company is ready to quickly replace the organization and take on orders, the range of services of the VBS emergency team (EEVBS) to be supplemented with additional skills and resources to be used for larger-scale events.
education
For reasons of capacity, the members of the NBC defense forces receive their general basic training in the maintenance school 50 in the logistics teaching association. In addition, the NBC Defense School 58 also provides technical training support in the repetition courses for NBC defense forces, if required, so around 3,500 people are trained in around 100 courses per year.
