ABC ( Yet Another BitTorrent Client ) is a free file sharing program written in Python for the BitTorrent protocol.

He needs the Python runtime environment for execution and wxPython for the graphical user interface.

It supports a queuing system with priorities, global and local (per torrent) settings for downloading (including upload and download bandwidth control), three options for what to do with complete files and a system called Upload Rate Manager (URM) for torrents from the Remove the queue if there is insufficient (previously defined) upload activity.

In contrast to BitTornado, the interface is more detailed, several torrents can be managed and the client can be minimized in the notification field .

The client supports webseeds , which only need web space , PHP and MySQL , so it is possible with an inexpensive web server to add a reliable source to your torrent. It also has an extensive web interface with which the client can be operated remotely.

history

ABC is based on BitTornado (once Shadow's Experimental Client ) by John Hoffman (Shad0w), which in turn is based on Bram Cohen's original BitTorrent client . ABC added the queue to BitTornado.

There have been no official publications from the project since 2005, although some unofficial modified versions are being maintained by the community. There are also some descendants that are actively being developed (Tribler, Torrent Swapper).
