ACI - The Financial Markets Association
ACI - The Financial Markets Association is a global financial market association and professional association for participants in the foreign exchange and money market . The ACI has more than 9,000 members; There is a separate national association in 63 countries. The ACI umbrella organization was founded in 1955 as the Association Cambiste Internationale and is based in Paris .
The most important activities of the association include self-regulation through a binding code of conduct , participation in international committees , training of members and specialist committees on various topics.
On the occasion of the introduction of the euro in 1999, the association was the project manager for the introduction of EURIBOR as an alternative to LIBOR . The EURIBOR immediately established itself as the euro reference interest rate on the financial markets. Since then, the EONIA has also been determined as a volume-weighted euro overnight interest rate. The ACI has delegated the daily EONIA calculation to the European Central Bank . The ACI is also responsible for regulating the Swiss counterpart of the EONIA, the TOIS, whereby the daily calculation has also been delegated here.
