Voskhod [ vʌsxɔt ] (alternative spelling Voskhod , Russian Восход "Sunrise") are called Soviet and Ukrainian high-speed hydrofoils , which are designed for passenger transport on rivers and reservoirs. But their seaworthiness also allows them to navigate coastal waters of the sea.
history
The Woschods were planned in Rostislaw Alexejew's design office as a replacement for older series of hydrofoil boats , for example " Raketa " and " Meteor ". The first prototype was built in 1973. Series production began in the shipbuilding plant “More” in Feodosia . Around 150 copies were built by the end of the Soviet Union, after which production almost came to a standstill due to economic difficulties.

Besides the Soviet Union, the Voshods were also delivered to 18 other countries, including Canada , Vietnam , People's Republic of China , the Netherlands , Greece , Austria , Hungary , Bulgaria , Thailand and Turkey . Recently, new voschods have been built for the Dutch company Connexxion .
In the Netherlands , Woschods operate between Amsterdam and Velsen , the journey takes about 30 minutes. The crossing is synchronized with the Connexxion intercity bus system, has its own number (419) and is called Fast Flying Ferries for advertising purposes . The line, which opened in 1998, originally used four Ukrainian voshods, three newly built ones were added in 2002, while three older ones were resold.
A speed limit was introduced by the provincial government in 2011 and the line should be discontinued in 2014.
