AC Bavaria Goldbach
The Athletics Club Bavaria Goldbach is a traditional German wrestling club from Goldbach in Lower Franconia and has won the German team championship eight times .
The AC Bavaria was founded on May 25, 1902 in the inn "Zum Goldenen Rad". Nikolaus Bieber was elected as the first chairman. In January 1905 he joined the South German Athletes Association. After the First World War , AC Bavaria Goldbach was revived. In 1920 the “Zum Engländer” inn became a new club bar. On April 15, 1921, the first team fight against the team from Kahl (3-2 for Goldbach) was played. On 1 January 1931, the club entered the German athletics - sports federation over. The team was one of the best in the region and their wrestlers often participated successfully in Hessian championships.
In 1968 AC Bavaria rose to the top division. This was followed by promotion to the Middle Regionalliga and in 1975 promotion to what was then the highest German fighting class, the Bundesliga. In the 1990s, Goldbach dominated the Bundesliga , with Maik Bullmann and Rıfat Yıldız among others . After this successful time, Goldbach entered the second division for several years after the turn of the millennium. In 2008 there was a withdrawal to the fourth class Hessenliga. Since the immediate promotion from this league, AC Bavaria has been competing in the Oberliga Hessen since 2009.
