Archaeological Society of Schleswig-Holstein

The Archaeological Society Schleswig-Holstein eV (AGSH) is a historical association for the promotion of the interests of the preservation of monuments in the federal state Schleswig-Holstein . The association was founded on February 11, 1985 in Rendsburg, entered in the register of associations on April 26, and is based in the city of Schleswig . The AGSH has 424 members (as of April 2009) made up of archaeologists , interested laypeople and institutions.

aims

The statutory objective of the AGSH is the promotion of science and research on prehistory and early history up to the Middle Ages in Schleswig-Holstein and the preservation of archaeological cultural monuments . This takes place in addition to a wide range of events such as lecture series, conferences, study trips to excavations, museums and cultural monuments, as well as through the publication of the newsletter Archäologische Nachrichten aus Schleswig-Holstein . Since 2009, the AGSH sponsorship award, endowed with € 500, has been awarded annually to the next generation of scientists for an excellent student seminar paper on the occasion of the "Archeology Day", an event organized by the Schleswig-Holstein Archaeological Office.
