AKA electric was a brand name for electrical appliances from the GDR .
history
The trademark replaced the “IKA electrica” trademark. The AKA electric brand belonged to VVB Elektro Konsumgüter, which was founded in 1969. Electrical items and electrical household appliances were available under the name, for example vacuum cleaners, hair dryers, mixers and kitchen grills. The advertising slogan on the then GDR advertising television was "AKA electric - at home in every house".
AKA stood for the slogan “Active on the market - Concentrated in trading activities - Currently on offer”. A total of 15 companies were instructed to use the trademark, with smaller ones completely losing their previous name. B. Omega (vacuum cleaner) and Reiss (drawing tools), some of the companies continued to operate under their own name, including Acosta (grill and warming devices).
For western countries, the devices were also provided with external labels and sold by local brands.
Later on, products were also sold that, as part of the general obligation that all combines also had to manufacture consumer goods, were produced by companies that otherwise came from completely different sectors, sometimes even from heavy industry . For example, the Robotron Kombinat , which actually manufactured office machines and computers, contributed the AKA Vitamat electric juicer (type Z 1015). The massager Massinet was produced by the automation plant in Berlin.
After reunification , traditional manufacturers returned to their old names, e.g. B. efbe. The trademark rights of AKA electric changed hands several times. Between 1998 and 2008 they were with a Rostock-based company that sells niche products such as the WM 0600 L wave gear washing machine, which has been manufactured in Schwarzenberg / Erzgebirge since 1960 (formerly known as Foron as WM 66 ). After the brand expired in August 2008, it was taken over by an automotive spare parts dealer in January 2009.
