The AKB Privatbank Zurich AG is the asset management specialist Swiss private bank based in Zurich . From 2001 to 2013 it was a wholly-owned subsidiary of Aargauische Kantonalbank . In 2013 the AKB Privatbank Zürich AG was sold to the Privatbank IHAG Zürich AG.
The bank was founded in 1988 as “BFZ Bankfinanz” and renamed “Bank Austria (Schweiz) AG” in 1992 as the Swiss subsidiary of Bank Austria (from 1998 “Bank Austria Creditanstalt (Schweiz) AG”). In 2001 the Aargauische Kantonalbank took over 100 percent of the share capital, renamed the bank "AKB Privatbank Zürich AG" and incorporated it into its group structure. The Aargauische Kantonalbank thus expanded its private banking business for customers outside its own cantonal borders.
AKB Privatbank Zurich employs almost 30 people and at the end of 2008 had total assets of 450.8 million francs and 1.8 billion francs in customer assets.
On November 29, 2013, AKB Privatbank Zürich AG was taken over by IHAG .
