AKSA is the largest manufacturer of acrylic fibers based in Yalova, Turkey . In 1969 a license agreement was signed with Châtillon , and production began in 1971.

The company produces one sixth of the world's production (17%); the fibers are mainly used for knitting .

40% of the shares belong to Akkök Holding .

Together with Dow Chemical , the DowAksa joint venture for the production of carbon fibers was founded in 2012 .
