AMEOS Clinic Neustadt
The AMEOS Klinikum Neustadt is a clinic in Neustadt in Holstein with a focus on psychiatry, psychotherapy, neurology and neurophysiology. It belongs to the Ameos clinic group .
history
After the sugar factory founded in Neustadt in 1883 went bankrupt after a few years, the "Provincial Care Institution near Neustadt in Holstein" opened on October 1, 1893, initially with 20 beds. In 1905 the house became the second provincial insane asylum (later provincial sanatorium and nursing home) in the province of Schleswig-Holstein alongside Schleswig.
During the Third Reich, over 1000 patients from Neustadt were brought to the Brandenburg killing center and the Bernburg killing center as part of the euthanasia program and murdered.
After the Second World War, the Neustadt in Holstein State Hospital was a general hospital. It had more than 1,000 beds; 250 of them belonged to psychiatry and neurology.
In 2005 the house was privatized: the Psychatrium Group, formed in 2003 with locations in Neustadt and Heiligenhafen, came to Ameos for € 35 million. Public funding was made available for the modernization of forensics .

Today the house has 160 inpatient treatment places.
