AN / TPS-59
The AN / TPS-59 is a 3D radar developed completely in semiconductor technology , which can perform air reconnaissance and tactical missile guidance tasks. It belongs to the "117" radar family from Lockheed Martin Ltd., which works in the D-band .
The radar is equipped with a phased array antenna that is configured as a monopulse antenna . The modernization variant (V) 3 of the TPS-59, which was specially developed for the defense against ballistic missiles, is to be used in existing anti-aircraft missile complexes. The radar is air transportable with the C-130 . The enormous range of 740 km and the all-round visibility of 360 ° cover an area of 603 million square kilometers in defense against ballistic missiles.
The AN / TPS-59 (V) 3 is currently in service with the United States Marine Corps and Egypt . The various variants of the "117" family of radars are used around the world and are also represented in Germany with the RRP 117 .
