With promotion to the fifth-class Potsdam district class in 1956, the ASG Vorwärts Potsdam soccer team reached district level. Just one year later she made it to the highest class in the district, the fourth-class district league. The ASG Vorwärts held its own there until 1969. In 1957 and 1965, the ASG was represented in the GDR-wide FDGB soccer cup competition . In 1957, the team survived two qualifying rounds before they failed in the first main round at the second division club SC Dynamo Berlin at home with 1: 6. In 1965 Vorwärts Potsdam won the district cup and met the second division club SC Potsdam in the first main round of the GDR soccer cup 1965/66. Back at home they were eliminated with a 1: 3 defeat. From 1966 there was parallel to ASG Vorwärts of ASK Vorwärts Potsdam , which however did not maintain a football section.

On July 1, 1969, the football section of ASG Vorwärts Potsdam merged with BSG Motor Teltow to form SG Vorwärts / Motor Teltow. The syndicate existed until the end of the football season 1976/77 and played continuously during its existence in the district league. On July 1, 1977 the ASG Vorwärts Potsdam was dissolved and the BSG Motor Teltow operated its football section again independently.
