Swiss Commercial Vehicle Association

The Swiss Commercial Vehicle Association ( French Association Suisse des Transports routiers ) was formed in 1979 from the Association of Swiss Motor Truck Owners , ASPA, which was founded in 1924, and the Trust Association of the Auto Transport Industry , TAG. The name ASTAG is derived from the names of the predecessor associations. The current central president is Adrian Amstutz .

Of the almost 7,000 road transport companies across Switzerland, around 4,000 are registered as members of ASTAG. The branch spectrum of the member companies extends to both commercial road freight transport (in domestic as well as international traffic) as well as to company traffic. Another branch is coach travel and the taxi industry .

ASTAG's head office is in Bern . With the other three competence centers in Dottikon AG, Gordola TI and Cossonay VD, the association wants to ensure closer proximity to its members and customers. In addition, the competence centers serve as additional locations for the training and further education offerings of ASTAG. Throughout Switzerland there are 18 regional sections that form independent associations and have their own statutes, which specify the organizational statutes of the superordinate ASTAG statutes. Members are all association members in a canton or in a region. The section president is automatically a member of the central board of ASTAG. The section secretariats are partly managed by ASTAG and partly externally. They serve the members on the one hand as a regional contact point, on the other hand as a transformer and consultative platform for ASTAG Switzerland for the targeted representation of interests of the road transport industry in the individual cantons or regions.

So-called specialist groups exist at ASTAG Switzerland level for the specialist representation of interests. They are primarily responsible for processing industry-specific issues and serve as a consultative and decision-making body for questions and topics in their specialist areas. The ASTAG specialist groups are supervised by the Bern office and consist of the following transport areas: waste disposal, industry logistics, Car / Car Tourisme Suisse, drainage technology, timber transport, cranes, truck driving instructors, milk collection transport, furniture transport, local transport, national / international transport (NIT), taxi, Animal transport, cistern transport of dangerous goods and exceptional transport (industry group).

The training department of ASTAG is responsible for the training and further education offers of the transport companies, transport dispatchers and drivers, as well as the dangerous goods training ( ADR / SDR ). Job profiles with a state qualification, for example, such as a trained truck driver or a road transport dispatcher certificate and a road transport operations manager or car driver / tour guide, round off the activities. ASTAG has been carrying out training for the EU transport license on behalf of the Federal Office of Transport (FOT) since 2001 and is represented on the state examination committee.
