The ASV Fürth is a German sports club based in the Bavarian Furth in Middle Franconia .

history

The founding event of the club took place on November 24, 1945, at which some clubs that had been dissolved before the Second World War, such as VfR Fürth, merged to form a new major club, the General Sports Club Fürth . At the time of the first ordinary annual general meeting, the association already had 1,100 members. At that time the club had a football, handball, canoeing, swimming, boxing, wrestling, stemmer, athletics, table tennis, gymnastics and women's gymnastics department. In addition, a winter sports department was founded at this time. When a new statute was passed on March 5, 1948, the association already had 1,600 members and was then entered in the association register. Due to the currency reform , the number of members then fell back to 1200. In an extraordinary general meeting on July 15, 1949, the canoe department was allowed to resign. In 1953, two of the club's wrestlers were able to take part in qualifying matches for the Olympics, at which time the club was positioned in the top wrestling league. On March 20, 1955, it was announced that the sports field on Magazinstrasse had been acquired by the club. On March 26, 1971 the association still had 921 members. At that time, the boxing, table tennis and athletics departments had also been dissolved. The offer was then supplemented by the new judo department. In 1979 a tennis department was founded. In 1983 the association had 1100 members again. Before the year 2000 the Ju-Jutsu department was founded.

In the 1946/47 season, the club played as a newcomer in the then second-rate Bavarian State League and ended this season with 18:22 points in sixth place. After the 1947/48 season , the club then rose due to the downsizing of the league and ninth place.

In 1957, an international youth tournament took place for the first time on the initiative of the association, which was held every year until 1994. After that, the series was no longer continued for cost reasons.

In the 2004/05 season, the team played in the district class West and finished fifth this season. After the 2006/07 season, first place was taken with 89 points. Thus, the club rose to the next season in the district league Nuremberg, where the second place could be occupied at the end of the first season there. Now in the regional league Middle Franconia North, the club came ninth with 42 points at the end of the season. The time in the district league then ended after the 2013/14 season with 16th place and relegation to the district league . There the team only came in 12th place, so you could just stay away from the relegation game. After the next season, with 60 points and second place, the place for relegation to renewed promotion could be secured. The ASV won the game at SG Herrieden with 1: 4. Back in the district league , at the end of the season, ninth place with 47 points. After the 2018/19 season, however, the club rose again from 17th place in the table with just 24 points. Thus, the club has been playing in the district league again since the 2019/20 season.
