Mettin Copier (born January 4, 1989 in Amsterdam ) is an Austrian - Dutch soccer player . The former U-21 national player of Austria plays for the sixth class SG Quelle Fürth .

Career

society

The son of a Dutch and an Austrian started his career in the youth of SV Siveo'60, a small club from the province of Utrecht . From Siveo he came to USV Elinkwijk, a club known as a talent factory for which Marco van Basten was also active in the youth, before he was discovered by scouts of AZ Alkmaar in 2007 and moved to their youth department.

At Alkmaar he developed into a promising defensive talent in the club's A1 youth team and was soon compared to the former Alkmaar star Joris Mathijsen because of his style of play . From 2008 he was already on for the second team from Alkmaar, before he received his first young professional contract under coach Louis van Gaal in December of the same year . As a result, he trained under Van Gaal and his successor Ronald Koeman with the professionals, but was only used at Jong-Alkmaar . In the 2009/10 season he was included in the Champions League squad of his club, but remained without use. After Koeman was fired and Dick Advocaat was appointed head coach in December 2009, his chances of being employed continued to deteriorate. In the spring of 2010 he was then awarded to relegation candidate Telstar in the Dutch Eerste Divisie .

At Telstar, he met Edward Metgod , the former assistant coach of Van Gaal at AZ, with whom he immediately received a regular position. At the end of February, however, Medgot was unexpectedly fired and replaced by technical director Marcel Bout . Copier, who had been a regular player in four games up until then, didn't play a single minute under the new coach and moved back to Alkmaar at the end of the season.

At AZ he was subsequently informed that his contract would not be extended due to the lack of a breakthrough in professional business and gave him approval. In July 2010 he then completed professional training at the Dutch second division club RBC Roosendaal , where he was able to convince. Due to the ailing financial situation of RBC, however, it was decided to sign Niek Ripson , who agreed to an amateur contract.

As a result, he signed a contract in August 2010 with FC Oss, who had just been relegated after twenty years in second division .

On February 28, 2011, he moved to the newly established American USL Professional Division , where he signed a three-year contract with Dayton Dutch Lions FC .

In November 2017, Mettin Copier moved to the regional league Middle Franconia North for ASV Fürth . For the 2019/20 season he moved to the sixth class SG Quelle Fürth .

National team

After receiving Austrian citizenship in 2007 due to his mother's Styrian origin, in autumn 2008 he signaled his willingness to play for Austria on an international level.

On March 25, 2009 he made his debut in the 1: 2 away win against Italy under coach Andreas Herzog in the Austrian U-21 national team . Six days later he came on for his second appearance in a 2-1 home defeat against Switzerland when he came on for Manuel Wallner in minute 46 .

As a result, he was in the extended circle of the U-21 national team until August 2010, but without being used again. The last time he was in the Austrian squad was on September 9, 2009, when he played against Albania.
