The ATS Bremerhaven was a sports club from Bremerhaven . The first soccer team played in the highest Bremen amateur league for nine years.

history

The club was founded on July 20, 1859 as TV Bremerhaven and was thus the oldest gymnastics club in the city. In 1897 the TV Jahn Bremerhaven split off, which in 1919 reunited with its mother association to form ATS Bremerhaven. Some members wanted to set up a football department at TV Jahn , but the board rejected this. As a result, those who had been rejected founded the first football club in the city on June 1, 1899, FC Bremerhaven . The football division of the ATS remained insignificant until the end of World War II .

In 1945 the Lehe-Nord sports community was founded. The ATS, Sparta , VfB Lehe and TV Lehe flowed into this community . In the 1946/47 season, the team played in the first-class Oberliga Niedersachsen-Nord , from which they were relegated as bottom of the table. Until 1956 the ATS stayed in the Bremen upper house and was promptly passed through to the district league. After two one-year guest appearances in the 1962/63 and 1964/65 seasons, the team reached the association league again between 1967 and 1969 . On February 14, 1972, ATS Bremerhaven merged with Police SV Bremerhaven to form OSC Bremerhaven .
