Master of the Egmont albums

As Master of the Egmont Albums ( Engl. Master of the Egmont Albums) an unnamed known is signatory of the Renaissance named from the late 16th century. It got its emergency name after some of his drawings that came from the private collection of John Perceval, First Earl of Egmont. It had accumulated in the early 18th century and is now owned by the Yale University Art Gallery in New Haven, United States of America. A total of more than thirty drawings are now attributed to the master by comparing styles. However, these assignments are not always undisputed.

The master of the Egmont albums probably came from the southern Netherlands and was probably active in Italy. His artistic style adapts to the mannerism prevalent in central Italy .

The master of the Egmont albums is mostly identified today with the Amsterdam Dirck Hendricksz Centen , who worked in Naples from 1574. Previously also were in January Blocklandt , Claudius Cock , Frans Franken , Jaques de Gheyn , Hendrick Goltzius , Hans von Aachen , Il Pordenone , Giulio Romano , Giovanni della Rovere or Tintoretto been proposed as a possible creator of some of the assigned by style compared to the master drawings.
