The AVO-Werke August Beisse GmbH in Belm in Osnabrück is a German spice factory with over 600 employees. The product range includes around 4000 items from the fields of natural spices, spice blends, liquid seasonings, marinades & dressings, additives, elastic nets and special casings. It supplies craft, gastronomy, industry, wholesale and food retail.
history
In the 1860s, August Vodegel ran a butcher's shop in Osnabrück on the corner of Wachsbleiche and the corner of Stüvestraße across from what is now the Institute for Computer Science at the University of Osnabrück. Its spice blends were known quickly and he set out in 1921, the company A ugust V odegel O snabrück, resulting in the brand name AVO developed. After August Vodegel's death, co-partner August Beisse took over management of the company. Branch plants have been located in Ingwiller (France) since 1970 and in Kobierzyce (Poland) since 1997 . Another wholly-owned subsidiary is Ph. Seyfried Gewürzmühle GmbH & Co. KG in Mannheim .
