A Band Called O (also: Parlor Band , The O Band ) was a British rock band from Jersey that existed from 1971 to 1977.

In 1971 the Jersey musicians Craig Anders, Mark Anders, John Pix Pickerford (called Pix) and Peter Filleul founded the "Parlor Band". A year later the self-produced album "Is a Friend" was released, but it was only rarely sold.

In 1973 the band changed the name "Parlor Band" to "A Band Called O", and they were signed by Epic Records . The following year the band released the album of the same name "A Band Called O", followed by the album "Oasis" (1975).

For the sake of simplicity, the band was called "The O Band" from the end of 1975. Derek Ballard and Jeff Bannister also joined the group. Pix Pickford, Filleul and Mark Anders left the band in the near future. With Bannister, the style of the band changed and adapted to the American scene. The band also switched to United Artists Records .

With “Within Reach”, “The O Band” released their most successful album in 1976, from which the single “A Smile Is Diamond” was decoupled. The 1977 album "The Knife" could not build on it and the band broke up. Both “Within Reach” and “The Knife” were released on CD by the German label Repertoire Records in the late 1980s.
