A Whisper in the Noise is a music project by the American artist West Thordson . The Minneapolis-St. Paul- born band is known for their dark sound and the unusual instrumentation for rock bands .

Guitarist Matt Irwin and violinist Hannah Murray left the project in late 2008 and formed Wive .

  • Through the Ides of March
    The title of the published 2003 debut album symbolizes evil, for in the Ides of March was Caesar murdered. It was recorded within two days in March 2003 under the direction of Steve Albini .
  • A whisper in the noise
    Re-release of Through the Ides of March with a different tracklist. Released in 2006.
  • 2D (collaboration with If Thousands )
    Between Through the Ides of March and the following As the Bluebird Sings , the band recorded a shorter album in 2004 with the band If Thousands .
  • As the Bluebird Sings
    The band's second regular album was produced by Tom Herbers and was released in April 2006. It includes a cover version of the Bob Dylan classic The Times They Are A-Changin ' . The album title goes back to a poem by Charles Bukowski .
  • Dry land
    With Dry Land , the band's most successful album to date was released on the German label Exile on Mainstream in October 2007 . Like the debut album, it was produced by Steve Albini . The first 2000 copies of the album were published in a special edition, the packaging of which is made of hand-printed, 100-year-old coffee paper. The album was voted album of the month by the German music magazine Visions and received 8.7 / 12 points.
  • To forget
    The work appeared in 2012 after another line-up change for the same label. Sonja Larsen took over the violin and vocals. West Thordson produced it himself.
