Head (Aachen)
Köpfchen is a settlement in the south of the city of Aachen on the border between Germany and Belgium . Until 1995 there was a border crossing here.
location
The settlement is located in the Aachen-Mitte district on the southern edge of the Aachen Forest at an altitude of 282 m. The Eupener Straße ( B57 ) runs through the settlement, which leads from Aachen to Eupen and on the Belgian side as Aachener Straße (N68) leads through Raeren .
Border crossing
The Aachen-Köpfchen border crossing was closed after the Schengen Agreement came into force in 1995. In the year 2000 the association Art and Culture in Mind (KuKuK) was founded, whereby the former Belgian customs building could be preserved.
In the vicinity of the border crossing there are remains of the Siegfried Line with the associated biotope network .
