Aakash

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Aakash is the world's cheapest tablet computer .

history

The Indian government , Datawind and the University of Mumbai are trying to use the cheap Aakash 2 tablet to create access to modern technology for the poor and low-income earners. 100,000 pieces of the tablet, which costs the equivalent of just 32 euros, are to be distributed to students so that they can learn more efficiently with it. Aakash 2 is the second attempt to produce a cheap tablet. Its predecessor complained about major shortcomings, such as insufficient storage space or poor sound quality. These should be resolved with the new edition.

Memory card : Some tablets are equipped with a micro-SD slot and a micro-SD card ( flash memory , expandable up to 32 GB), which enables user data to be saved. In some Android 2.3 applications, data can be moved from the ROM to the memory card.

Memory : The size of the ROM was not specified by Datawind, but it is assumed to be 256 MB or 2 GB. Both tablets contain a graphics card, but graphics memory and GPU speed information are unknown.

Google Android Market : Since the Aakash does not have a SIM card and the performance is insufficient to use the Google Android Market , the GetJar Marketplace is used instead . UbiSlate-7 + will have access to Google's Android Market, as Google confirmed.

Network : Aakash supports WiFi. It is generally not suitable for the use of cellular networks. In addition to WLAN, the UbiSlate-7 + also has GPRS Internet connection , a 1G network connection. External 3G USB modems are not supported.
