history

In 1881, the Danish entrepreneurs Carl Frederik Tietgen and Chresten Andreas Olesen founded De Danske Spritfabrikker through a merger of several distilleries . After further mergers and acquisitions, all Danish distilleries belonged to the group in 1923. This monopoly on the production of schnapps and aquavit did not end until 1973 when Denmark joined the EC. From 1924 the Berlin branch produced the " Malteserkreuz Aquavit ".

In 1989 De Danske Spritfabrikker merged with De Danske Sukkerfabrikker and Danisco . From 1995 the group had the common name Danisco. In 1999 the company came under the umbrella of the Swedish company Vin & Sprit ; the time-honored name De Danske Spritfabrikker was revived. But in 2008 they were sold to the French manufacturer Pernod Ricard and restructured as Pernod Ricard Denmark A / S. Pernod Ricard Denmark was taken over by ArcusGruppen in 2012. In March 2014 it was announced that production was to be completely relocated to the Arcus headquarters in Norway. In April 2015 the factory in Aalborg was closed.
