Carrion roof
A carrion roof (Norwegian Aaser, Åser; from Ås, German purlin ) is a roof construction in which instead of rafters, many purlins are very close to each other and directly support the roof skin . This construction is primarily found in Scandinavian log house construction .
The purlins could also be referred to as rafter purlins here, as they also take over the function of the rafters.
