Abatai is a village on Rennell Island in the Solomonic province of Rennell and Bellona . Neighboring villages are Tesauma , Magino , Matamoana and Nukumatangi .
The village is 40 km, about a two-and-a-half hour drive, from Tigoa in the east of the island . Abatai is on Kangava Bay, with white sand and coral reefs . A total of around 80 people live in Abatai. They either belong to the South Seas Evangelical Church (SSEC) or are Baptists . The responsible police station is in Tigoa, as well as an employee of the provincial government.
