Abderrahim Harouchi

Abderrahim Harouchi (born January 31, 1944 in Casablanca ; † August 21, 2011 ibid) was a Moroccan doctor and politician .

Life

After attending school, he studied medicine and graduated in 1972 with a diploma from the University of Paris V , before obtaining another diploma in pediatric surgery in 1973 . After returning to Morocco, he worked as a doctor. In 1985 he was appointed Dean of the Medical Faculty of the University of Casablanca .

In 1992 he became Minister for Public Health in the cabinet of Prime Minister Mohammed Karim Lamrani and also held this post under his successor Abdellatif Filali between 1994 and 1995. He was then part of the Consultative Council for Human Rights, before becoming Minister for Social Development in December 2002 , Families and Solidarity in the Cabinet of Prime Minister Driss Jettou and held this office until June 2004.

Harouchi, who died as a result of a long illness, was also temporarily president of the AFAK association.
