Abdoulaye Bio Tchané

Abdoulaye Bio Tchané (born October 25, 1952 in Djougou ) is a politician from Benin . He has been Minister for Planning and Development in Benin since 2016 .

Life

Bio Tchané obtained his master's degree in business administration from the University of Burgundy in Dijon and another in banking from the Center Ouest-Africain de Formation et d'Etudes Bancaires in Dakar . He began his career at the Central Bank of West Africa , where he was promoted to director and head of the Department of Economic and Monetary Studies. He was then Minister of Finance from 1998 to 2002 under President Mathieu Kérékou . Bio Tchané headed the IMF's Africa department from 2002 to 2007 and was President of the African Development Bank from 2008 to 2010.

As a candidate in the 2011 presidential election in Benin , he was considered one of the favorites, but did not make it to the runoff election. In 2016 he received 8.79% of the vote in the first round and supported the eventual winner Patrice Talon in the subsequent runoff election .
