Djougou is a city in northwest Benin , about 40 kilometers from the border with Togo . It is the capital of the Donga department and in 2013 was the sixth largest city in the country with almost 95,000 people.

religion

The city is the seat of the Diocese of Djougou, founded in 1995 . The largest religious group are the Muslims, who make up about 72 percent of the population. Between eight and ten percent are supporters of the Roman Catholic Church , around three percent of Protestantism . Around seven percent follow indigenous religions.

traffic

Several important main roads cross in Djougou. The international routes RNIE3 from Burkina Faso to the south and RNIE6 from Togo to Nigeria run through the city . Djougou airport is close to the city .

Town twinning

The twin town of Djougou is the French city of Évreux in Normandy .
