Abel Azcona (2018)

Abel Azcona (born April 1, 1988 in Madrid ) is a Spanish action artist .

His autobiographical art actions include performance , installations , sculptures, video art, painting and writing as well as essays and smaller literary texts. His early work was about personal identity, violence, and the limits of pain, which evolved into works of a critical, political, and social nature.

Exhibitions

His work has been exhibited in exhibitions and galleries around the world and has been shown at the Venice Arsenal and the Asian Art Biennale in Dhaka and Taipei, the Lyon Biennale , the Miami International Performance Festival, and the Art Biennale in Bangladesh. In addition, Azcona is represented in various national and international museums and cultural centers, including the Malaga Center for Contemporary Art, the Museum of Modern Art in Bogotá, the Art League Houston, the Leslie Lohman Museum in New York and the Círculo de Bellas Artes de Madrid. The Museum of Contemporary Art of Bogotá dedicated a retrospective exhibition to the artist Abel Azcona in 2014.
