Underwater Adventure is an American television series from 1958 to 1961. The main character is the diver Mike Nelson, who fights against criminal activities underwater on behalf of insurance companies, salvage companies and government agencies and in the process clashes with dangerous human opponents and animals. The focus is always on fighting scenes under water, which the frogman (the then common job title for diver ) Nelson has to pass.

Former combat swimmer Mike Nelson goes into business for himself after serving in the Navy. He takes on orders of all kinds, for example he harvests bicycles or nuclear warheads, saves animals and people in need under water. Each episode ends with a plea for the protection of the oceans.

Production and publication

The series was produced by United Artists Television from 1958 to 1961, most of the episodes directed by Leon Benson. David Rose composed the music, the idea for the series comes from Ivan Tors . The company ZIV Television Programs was involved in the production. The shooting took place in different locations, mostly in Florida or the American west coast. A total of 155 episodes were produced. The show ran from January 4, 1958 to September 23, 1961 on regional channels in the United States. Between 1959 and 1964, 75 episodes of the series were broadcast on ARD's evening program. It was also broadcast on French television.

In 2008 the series was released on DVD in the USA.
