Abetti is a very small impact crater near the southeastern edge of Mare Serenitatis , northwest of Mons Argaeus .

The exact location is unclear, as it is drawn in different positions on various NASA maps (compare LM-42 Mare Serenitatis , LTO-42C2 Clerke and LTO-42C3 Dawes ) and the position given in the IAU's Gazetteer of Planetary Nomenclature is not clearly recognizable Crater corresponds and also differs from the NASA positions. The structure most closely related to IAU position and size is a ghost crater .

Abetti was named by the IAU after the two Italian astronomers Antonio Abetti (1846–1928) and Giorgio Abetti (1882–1982).
