At Queen's Gambit Declined is an opening of the chess game . The Queen's Gambit rejected is a closed game . It develops from the Queen's Gambit .
Each of its main variants begins with the trains
- 1. d2-d4 d7-d5
- 2. c2-c4 e7-e6
The Queen's Gambit declined is not the only way to refuse the Queen's Gambit. Alternatives include the Slavic Defense (2.… c7 – c6) or the Chigorin Defense (2.… Nb8 – c6). The denotation rejected Queen's Gambit specifically refers to the rejection by means of 2.… e7 – e6.
With this support, the black initially blocks an effective development of his ladies runner. Instead, he prepares the development of his kingside .
variants
The main lines are usually followed by 3. Nb1 – c3 . Sometimes 3. Ng1 – f3 Ng8 – f6 is played first, which either leads to the main lines by changing moves or to the Catalan opening (which is not counted as part of the Queen's Gambit) if White with 4. g2 – g3 and 5. Bf1 – g2 continues. After 3. Nb1 – c3 Black has the following options:
- Tarrasch Defense 3. Nb1 – c3 c7 – c5
- Semi-Slav Defense 3. Nb1 – c3 c7 – c6
The development of Bc1 after f4, sometimes called the Blackburne variant, became popular with the move order 3. Nb1 – c3 Ng8 – f6 4. Ng1 – f3 Bf8 – e7 5. Bc1 – f4. Because of the lower indirect pressure on d5, as exerted by the g5 bishop, Black can move c7 – c5 after 5.… 0–0 6. e2 – e3.
The most common is the continuation with 3. Nb1 – c3 Ng8 – f6 . Then, in addition to the exchange system, a distinction is made between 4. c4xd5 e6xd5 variants that continue with 4. Ng1 – f3 and those with 4. Bc1 – g5.
