action

Marie notices early on that her mother Marianne is a drug addict , and later learns that her mother was infected with HIV .

At a party, Marianne meets Günther, who also takes drugs. Marianne and Günther fall in love. Once when they were wandering around, Günther and Marie were invited to a tent where Christians were promoting their faith. This is how Günther and Marie become believers. Günther then moves in with Marianne and Marie. Marianne becomes pregnant and gives birth to a second child, Noah. Marianne, Marie's mother, becomes pregnant again and she has Felix.

When Marianne breaks out with AIDS, she is exhausted and then dies. Marie's biological father also dies later. Günther, her mother's friend, relapsed after Marianne died. Drug cocktails often confuse him mentally and then don't know what he's doing.

Marie is then placed in a foster family . Marie's first foster family is the Fischer family. The strict foster parents are strictly religious and have many rules and regulations. Marie doesn't last long with the Fischers. She then moves in with her grandma because she is too stressed with her foster family. The grandma suffers from paranoia. Marie and her grandmother often quarrel. Marie soon meets her friend Dirk. You meet with other friends and acquaintances. It was there that Marie herself came into contact with drugs for the first time; Dirk breaks up the relationship with Marie.

Marie later meets Justus. They get along well at first, but the problem is that Marie thinks she has to take drugs to be able to stay close to Jupiter. Soon after, Marie rents an apartment. They always meet there. Justus makes Marie bad in the presence of other people. Because Marie spent all the money on drugs, she no longer pays her rent. The lease is therefore terminated later and Marie has to rent a dark room in a hotel. She is now trying to get rid of drugs through pills and medication. One day an acquaintance approaches her and says she is not a person who should take drugs.

Thereupon she tries with Kai to get rid of the addiction. Kai treats Marie and tries to make the withdrawal as easy as possible for her. Marie soon knows that she can live without her addiction. She now goes to evening school, where she meets Justus, who also goes to this evening school. They get along well again, but the relationship is not stable, which is why it ultimately fails. Marie now inhales smoke, drinks alcohol and lives sexually dissolute. But soon she leaves this debauchery because it doesn't make her happy either.

The novel ends with a happy ending: Marie and her childhood friend Marcel fall in love, get married and have children. The pregnancy also helped Marie internally to get out of drugs because she did not want to harm her unborn child with drugs.
