Abigail P. Johnson (born January 7, 1962 ) is an American manager . As head of company pensions, she holds a leading position at Fidelity Management & Research in Boston , one of the world's largest fund companies by assets under management .

Life

Abigail Johnson is the granddaughter of the company's founder Edward C. Johnson 2nd and daughter of current President Edward "Ned" C. Johnson 3rd .

She studied art history at William Smith College and earned a Bachelor of Arts and Science degree. She later completed another degree at Harvard University , which earned her a Master of Business Administration (MBA).

Abigail Johnson is married with two children and lives in Milton, Massachusetts . In 2020 she was elected to the American Academy of Arts and Sciences .

Career

After her first degree, Abigail Johnson worked for the international management consultancy Booz Allen Hamilton for two years . In 1988 she joined her father's company, where she took on responsibility for a fund for the first time in 1993 as a fund manager. In 2001 "Abby" became President of the Investment Funds Division . Some time later, she moved to the head of the department that manages individual and company pension plans for customers. After some leaders retired in 2008, observers expect Abigail Johnson to advance to Fidelity's president soon.
