The miscarriage fly ( Psychoda grisescens , Syn .: Psycha grisescens ) is a mosquito from the family of the butterfly mosquito (Psychodidae).
features
The mosquitoes have a wing length of about 1.5 millimeters. Their body is uniformly light brownish-gray in color. The antennae are rounded and thickened at the base; branching branches arise at these thickenings, with three branches in front. On the abdominal appendages , the gonostyle is the same length as the gonocoxite , the former is pointed at the ends facing away from the body.
Way of life and distribution
The animals are common in Europe. They are mainly found in toilets, where the larvae feed on organic materials in the drains. The adults usually sit on the walls or walk around on them. Their short flights appear as jumps due to their small size. The species is increasingly being displaced by increased disinfection.
