Dismantling (railway)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The dismantling of a locomotive describes the work required after the end of a mission. The official name is final service , the work steps are described in detail in the so-called partial working directory A1 / A2 for each locomotive.

In the case of steam locomotives , dismantling included slagging , filling in coal, water and brake sand, and cleaning the locomotive.

When dismantling diesel and electric locomotives , some devices are switched off or returned to their basic position, the handbrake is applied and the pantograph is put down, or the diesel engine is switched off.
