Abraham Wildey Robarts

Abraham Wildey Robarts ( August 1, 1779 - April 2, 1858 ) was a British politician and banker.

Life

Abraham Wildey Robarts was the eldest son of Abraham Robarts and his wife Sabine (nee Tierney). He grew up with three brothers, including George James Robarts and William Tierney Robarts , and five sisters. The politician George Tierney was his uncle.

Abraham Wildey Robarts attended a school in Chiswick until 1794 . He then worked for the East India Company in China. In 1801 he returned to London , where he worked in the banking house in which his father was involved. When he died in 1816, he inherited his shares. In the general election on June 17, 1818 he was elected to the House of Commons in the Maidstone constituency. He was a member of this until 1837. After leaving the House of Commons, he returned to his work as a banker.

On January 20, 1808, he married Charlotte Anne Wilkinson. Several children were born from the marriage.
