Live and act

Abraham von Streithagen from the branch of the Judenkopf von Streithagen was the son of Dietrich von Streithagen and Margarethe Wyngartz. He was admitted to the chairman of the aldermen in 1598 and held the office of alderman in 1601/1602 . He also joined the Sacrament Society of St. Foillan in 1602 . In addition, von Streithagen is named in a document dated April 13, 1610 as mayor of the city of Aachen; At this point in time, however, Joachim Berchem was still the mayor of lay judges. Since the elections always took place on May 25th, the title may have come from an earlier term, for which only 1606/07 is possible, since no lay mayor is named for this term, or for the period from May 1610 to May 1611 or even for both, although the source "von Coels" leaves this open.

After the Protestant Dietrich Vercken, who was appointed as Vogtmajor of the Bailiwick Jülich responsible for Aachen in the final phase of the Aachen religious unrest, was forcibly deposed by Catholic imperial troops in 1616, Abraham von Streithagen was appointed as interim bailiff on September 5th that year, until the original The designated Catholic representative Johann von Thenen could take over this office in 1618.

Abraham von Streithagen was married to Sybille von Beulard, daughter of the Aachen lay judge Johann Beulard, who bore him four children, two of whom died young. From his son Arnold, who was baptized on May 21, 1608 and died on July 21, 1610 at the age of two, there was a grave slab in the Dominican church of St. Paul , which has been missing since 1956. Abraham von Streithagen died on March 4, 1635 and was buried by the Aachen Alexians on March 7.

Abraham von Streithagen's family branch had owned the Mittel-Uersfeld estate since the 14th century . Through the marriage of his daughter Anna Maria von Streithagen to Gottfried von Othegraven (Ottegraven) at the beginning of the 17th century, the estate passed to Othegraven. His second surviving daughter Margaretha married Leonhard von Dammerscheid and was enfeoffed with the Mühlenbach estate between Kohlscheid and Horbach . In addition, Abraham von Streithagen was feudal lord of the Electorate of Cologne feudal court in Heerlen and owner of the Schoenborn estate near Schin op Geul , both of which were transferred to his nephews after his death.
